Obtaining and managing language packs for the user interface
From version 5.1.4 onwards language packs per language other than English are dynamically downloaded and installed in the software. English language is the default language and always present. After selecting a different language a restart of the software is required. See e.g. for Composer in the manual at
https://www.notation.com/ComposerDocs5/languages_management.htm
The other software products work in a similar way.
Important to know:
A language pack needs the same version as the product. If there is a mismatch the software will inform you and recommends to re-download the language pack. In this case the software assures that the correct version of the language pack is downloaded and installed. In addition we improve the languages ongoing in particular those languages which are in beta status. With the button 'Downloaded latest language update' the latest language pack can be obtained.
Once a language pack has been downloaded and installed, an internet connection is not required any longer for such a language. In any version change e.g. an update, the software will automatically re-download the according language pack which matches the version of the software version.
As outlined in the system requirements (see
https://www.notation.com/SystemRequirements.php ) we strongly recommend to have the PC connected to the internet. However, there may be situations where an internet connection is not available. Such a typical scenario is when a PC is used in a band practice room or on stage.
In this case - where the PC is not connected to the internet - you can manually download a language pack and move it over to this PC.
A language pack can be downloaded from
https://www.notation.com/download/Languages/[PRODUCT]/lib_Notation_[PRODUCT]_[X]_Language_[LANGUAGE]_[Version].zip
where
[PRODUCT]
Composer
Musician
Player
[X] major version
5
[LANGUAGE] German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese
DEU
ESN
FRA
ITA
NLD
PTB
[VERSION] can to be obtained: start the software and use the shortcut 'qevn'
5.1.4.0
Here is an example for Composer 5.1.4.0 language pack German
https://www.notation.com/download/Languages/Composer/lib_Notation_Composer_5_Language_DEU_5.1.4.0.zip
The downloaded language pack needs to be extracted and moved to a specific folder with a specific filename:
Here is the scheme:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Notation_]X]\[PRODUCT]_[X]\Languages\lib_Notation_[PRODUCT]_[X]_Language_[LANGUAGE].dll
For the above example the path is
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Notation_5\Composer_5\Languages\lib_Notation_Composer_5_Language_DEU.dll
When selecting the language German in Composer 5, the language dll is used from this path.
