Notation Music Software offers great tools for helping you or the children in your life learn many musical skills. To enhance that learning experience, we have a directory of the best resources that are available on the internet for young musicians. The Piano Education Page - "...a one-stop resource for teachers, students, parents of students, and fans of the piano with over 1000 pages of family-friendly information, upgraded regularly." The Audition Room contains many well-beloved piano pieces in MIDI format, which can be used with Notation Musician to create free sheet music of these works.
Online Piano Lessons - An excellent site for those who prefer to learn piano in the comfort of your own home and at your own pace. Piano teachers review online lessons as well as software packages and give ratings for the quality and extent of each resource. They also provide free online lesson videos to get you started.
Classics for Kids - This site, by Cincinnati Classical Public Radio, Inc., hosts an online version of their regular "Classics for Kids" programs. Other useful information includes their online Musical Dictionary, and especially their Instruments of the Orchestra section.
DSO Kids - The Dallas Symphony Orchestra kids' site is easy to use even for very young musicians. They have a wide range of information and activities for kids, from projects to do at home - such as making a xylophone - to musical games which make learning about various composers and genres of music lots of fun.
New York Philharmonic KidZone - This site is very easy for young musicians to navigate, and features such sections as the Instrument Storage Room, where kids can learn about the instruments of the orchestra and easily hear samples of those instruments. You can also make your own in the Instrument Lab. Learn about composers in the Composer's Gallery, or visit the Game Room for lots of fun games to reinforce musical knowledge.
Free Music Flash Games - This page has some Flash(tm) games that can spot-drill your kids on specific areas of music, while they have fun reinforcing the specific concepts.
Music Education Online - This site offers a lot of resources for parents. Practice tips and information about selecting instruments are just some of the offerings here.
Homeschool Central's Music Resources - This site has listings for a number of resources that are particularly helpful to homeschoolers who are musically inclined.

Piano on the Net - Free lessons by Clinton Clark for beginners on the piano. This site doesn't replace a live teacher, but for very self-motivated students, it can get you started.
